Hello, and welcome to Bite-sized Veterinary Guides for the Pet Owner!

What is this site all about? My name is Sally Suttenfield, and I’ve been a veterinarian for over thirty years. I graduated in 1991 from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and in 2005 became certified as a canine rehabilitationist, specializing in dogs recovering from surgery and injury. One of the biggest problems I see in veterinary medicine today is the gap in communication between pet owners and veterinary personnel. It’s a frustrating situation when your animal is ill or injured and you can’t process the information you’re being told. It’s frustrating for the professionals on the other end as well, when they might struggle to put their medical knowledge into terms their clients can understand.

My goal here with this website and the information provided is to help bridge the gap between the two.
